In HoudahSpot you can open as many searches – windows or tabs – as you like. Sometimes you end up with more windows than you care for.
You found your file. The search is over. The next search is up. You open a fresh window. But first, you have to close the previous search. But what you actually do is delay housekeeping and clutter your screen with disused HoudahSpot windows.
Now you start re-using windows: you modify an existing search with the idea to find an altogether different file. Your search was tailored to find and display images. Now you want it to come up with Word files. You basically need to undo all adjustments to search criteria, filters, and display options.
There ought to be a better way. In HoudahSpot 5.0, there is.
Select File > Revert from the menu to start a fresh search in the current window.
This command resets the search to its original state: your default setup, or the template from which the search was created.
Now you have a clean slate to start over on.
